Choose an expression and outfit that fit how you actually meet people. An exaggerated power pose or invented luxury office can distract from the person and create a misleading impression. An understated scene often gives your work more room to speak.

• Keep hands visible in a supporting reference if the final pose includes them.
• Check that glasses, hair and facial features remain familiar.
• Choose background tones that work with your company’s page.
• Prepare a square crop and a wider version only when you need both.

A practical press-ready review

Review the image at full size, then at the size an editor will use. Look for skin detail, clean glasses, plausible shoulders and hands, and enough clear space around the subject. Tell an editor when the portrait is AI-created.
